Well, I did it again and didn't write for a month!  I know it's hard to believe, but my goal really is to write more on my blog (because I like it and think it's a fun space!)

April was pretty quiet around the shop, which was perfect timing for me to take care of non-shop related stuff in my universe.  Now I'm pretty excited to be this far into May, and am looking forward to the upcoming summer months, too!

Happily, I can report that May has been busier in Bax Cat & Co. land; people are prepping their cats with new fun summer toys and mats!  I just re-listed and renewed a bunch of items in my shop, and am up to 99 items.  It has been my goal for a long time to have 100 items listed... and it's so close!  I hope to sew this weekend and take some photos of new items.  The 100 mark will be reached soon, yay :)

This is a cat mat that I made a little while ago.  I've been rooting for it to sell from the start.  Happy news: it sold a couple days ago!  This fabric was too cute not to buy (don't worry, the ants won't ruin your cat's picnic... or his nap).  I re-listed it in the shop today, because I'm proud of it and would love to share it with more kitties.  It's always fun to see what people buy from my shop, because I love everything that I make!

Speaking of things that make me happy... I also brought back this little bumble bee toy.  I ran out of this bees fabric a few months ago and then went on a mission to find it.  Luckily I did find it, and bought a bunch more.  It's so bright and colorful, and I really like the movement of the bees on it.  To me, it is one of my perfect spring/summer fabrics.  Here is the little bumble bee toy :)

There is something very comforting to me about making toys and mats for cats.  Seeing these two (above) is like seeing an old friend.  Like "Hi, I remember when I first came up with your design... and then when I created you... and now I get to send you off into the paws of a cat who will hopefully have fun with you for a long time!"  Maybe I'm just silly, but I really take pride in the things I make for cats, and am happy when I get to share them with others.

On that note... thank you for visiting my blog and my shop!  See you on here or over there soon.  Feel free to share us with your friends (and their cats!)

Some days it feel like I'm chasing daylight.  Today I was taking photos of new Halloween items for the shop, and kept having to move my setup because the sun kept moving!  It worked out in the end, though, and now all of this year's Halloween items are listed on Etsy.

Pretty soon we will be setting the clocks back, and chasing daylight even more, before the sun starts to go down earlier and earlier each day.  Time to savor every minute!

Now that Halloween items are all listed, and with only one more Thanksgiving item to list, the upcoming weeks will allow us to shift and focus on Christmas (can't believe how quickly that time of year is approaching).
A couple weeks ago we rolled our our two thanksgiving items - a stylish turkey bandana and a round turkey toy.  This fabric was too cute to pass up!  Don't you agree?  (*bandana will be listed soon!)

Today's set of Halloween toys can easily be paired up!  Two pillow toys and two cute bandanas in spooooky fabric.  How it would be if someone dressed their cat in a bandana Halloween night to help pass candy out =^-^=

This is our first holiday season as a shop on Etsy, so we're trying to: plan ahead, read through all the materials given by Etsy, and come up with great new items for cats to enjoy.  True, many stores already have their Christmas groove in place, but it's time for us to dive in and catch our own Christmas wave.

In other news... we signed up for Direct Checkout a few weeks ago so our customers would have more payment options if they shopped at our store.  A great thing that comes with Direct Checkout is the ability to shop our items with a gift card.  We haven't seen any gift card activity, but these are a great option to give as gifts in the upcoming season!

When reading up on how gift cards work, we found these links very helpful:

Time for us to go dream up some ideas for white Christmases, red nosed reindeer, and sugarplum fairies!

Here's to enjoying each moment of the day, instead of feeling like we are chasing it!  See you the next time around.  Stay furry =^-^=

It is hilarious to me that I take all this time to come up with new ideas that will be fun and awesome for cats... and then I turn around, look down, and find my cats hanging out with this huge (cat-sized) lizard stuffed animal that my husband won at an amusement park.  Clearly the lizard wins over any idea I might have shown these two cats today.
Cakes (Zazu, we just call her "Cakes" for no reason) looks like she is riding a horse, I can't stop laughing when I see her laying on this lizard.  I want to ask her where she is going, but haven't asked yet.  Maybe laying as a catloaf on the lizard makes her have adventurous dreams!  ...and maybe I should stop interrupting my cats and this new lizard friend of theirs while they are all trying to take naps, because obviously I am not amusing them as much as they are amusing me!

I always pay attention to my cats when they are checking out random items in the house, to see what qualities they like the most from the items, and translate those into new creations.  I think they like this lizard so much because he is super padded, and just the right size for a single kitty to sleep on at a time (so are the cat mats I make!).  The lizard's tail doubles as a kick toy, too (I have kick toys!).  Who knew I would have to compete with a silly amusement park toy that isn't even supposed to be a cat toy?!

Time for me to get to work, Mr. Lizard; you have motivated me =^-^=
